I remembered building my first sandcastle from that world-famous silky sand that magically holds the shapes of your wildest imagination.

I had Kylie over to my house recently (lucky me, we’re neighbours) and we had a conversation about full proof formulas behind hanging art in your home.

I REALLY despise writing. I would much prefer to paint, to photograph my paintings, to post on social or an ocean or lakeside walk (re: gathering west coast ref photos for painting). However,

I started painting and it became my favorite because of how it flowed out of me so effortlessly. I was channelling every bit of magic my followers gave to me.

I held his hand and we danced with our arms to beat of those swaying trees. Connected. The wind, the trees, my Dad and me.

Looking at the face of death and dying is one way to gain clarity.

Be it physically scaling mountains, or in your personal life...these paintings are a metaphor for pushing past life’s challenges and in doing so building your strength and rediscovering freedom.

My hope is that these paintings will bring you a sense of strength, solace and hope in your darker hours and a clearer awareness of what is important. May one of these paintings provide you a souvenir of the time you didn’t think you could but you most certainly did.”

 I have lived my entire life on Canada’s west coast, bathed in the light of the Pacific landscape but sometimes, things happen that reshape the way we look at the world around us…

I strictly used three colours: black, burnt umber and pthalo blue, allowing the water on the canvas to spontaneously and unpredictably mix the colour for me. I drench the canvas in water and randomizing add dabs of these three paint colours, then very quickly spread and shape the paint with a spatula and palette knife.

I can’t say that I believe in any higher power but there was something magical that occurred that morning. Not something I can put aptly into words but more of a feeling, like goosebumps in my soul. A shift in my being. Creative inspiration of the highest level.
