A lifetime in the making...

I've lived on Vancouver Island my entire 53 years. With The Accession Collection have revisited my favourite memories in these locations. While painting "Adrift" (Rathtrevor Beach in Parksville) I remembered building my first sandcastle from that world-famous silky sand that magically holds the shapes of your wildest imagination. "Wonder" and "Awe" filled me with pride recalling our 9 year old daughter Kaita trekking 20km on her first overnight backpacking hike to Moat Lake in Strathcona Park, our lips stained blue from eating wild alpine blueberries along the way. Laughter bubbled up recalling how our dog Bryndl trembled in fear and determination all the way across the high bridge at Englishman River Falls ("Freefall"). And in "Surge" and "High Tide", I eagerly await my next Artist's Retreat with my gal pals Fiona and Michelle where we comb every beach in Tofino and Ucluelet searching for the perfect reference photos for our paintings, surrounded by the deafening surf and inhaling the moist sea air.

I am often asked how many hours it takes to create each piece. I've come to realize that my paintings aren't created in hours or days, they are created over a lifetime of observation. These aren't just paintings, these are lived experiences. Experiences that connect us all – to each other and to our beautiful planet.

I hope you connect with these paintings in a deep and meaningful way and they bring forward the joy of your connection to your place. Thank you for being here with me on this creative pursuit.

I’ve had the urge to create more minimalist work for a while but hadn’t found the spark to ignite my creativity, until now..
