RONEI’S CV

Ronei has been creative her whole life, but it wasn’t until 2019 that she started painting seriously. Given the immediate interest in her work and the success she experienced, she became a full-time artist in February of 2022. Currently, Ronei’s focus is acrylic landscapes on canvas. She sells her work primarily via her own online gallery at Ronei.ca, as well as through galleries. Ronei releases multiple collections each year, some of which have sold out within mere weeks of launching. ABOUT RONEI

Ronei in her home studio with a commissioned painting titled Spider Lake, 60x30”, custom framed in a maple float frame

I was raised on the edge of the wilderness. I have lived my entire life on Vancouver Island, bathed in the light and water of the Pacific landscape. My family home sat on a farm by a lake near the ocean. In this quiet habitat, I explored forest trails, paddled canoes, and collected sand dollars. I feel the natural world permeates my DNA. Much of my painting inspiration evolves around our personal and emotional attachment to place - our memories and feelings that animate specific landscapes. My paintings are coloured with perspective, gratitude and a sense of purpose. They are love letters to nature.

My current medium/substrate is acrylic paint on canvas. I paint as the Master’s did, starting with a ground, an underpainting and building from thin to thick. Most of my style reflects my background in watercolour and pencil realism. If I paint directly from a reference photo, my style leans towards realism, if I paint from memory, my style leans towards impressionism. Even though I don’t paint plein air, I almost always visit the location so I can experience the light, sounds and elements for myself. Absorbing that input helps to elevate my interpretation of the subject and breathe life into the work.

Ronei (pronounced: Ron-eh) is an acrylic painter living on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.

Her collectors are moved by Ronei’s ability to infuse into her paintings the duality of the rugged west coast. Both the calm and the drama of Vancouver Island's climate and terrain will move through you when you immerse yourself in her body of work.

Her art resides across Canada, The United States, Australia, China and Europe.

You can collect her paintings and prints here on her website as well as at Mattick’s Gallery in Cordova Bay, Victoria, BC., Tigh-Na-Mara Resort in Parksville, B.C., Artifact in Courtenay, B.C. and The Millstone Gallery in Nanaimo, BC.

Ronei’s other hats include wife, mother, cat butler, Gin Rickey specialist and pizza master. She is enjoyed for her candor and wry sense of humour but is loved for her wisdom and immense empathy.
